THE Health Ministry has identified two clusters – a church gathering and a wedding – that have contributed 171 Covid-19 cases in the country.
Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said a three-day church gathering in Kuching, Sarawak has so far resulted in 83 cases, including two deaths.
“Five are in ICU while 50 others are being treated in hospitals,” he said in his daily press conference in Putrajaya.
He added another 25 people are being monitored in quarantine centres.
“One person has recovered and was discharged.”
The second cluster involved a wedding in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor.
He said, as of today, there have been 88 cases from this cluster, including one who is in ICU.
Both the clusters have resulted in infections moving into the fifth generation.
He also said the decision to impose the MCO order was the right call to stop people from gathering.
However, he urged everyone to play their role in ensuring that the Covid-19 infection chain is broken.
Earlier Noor Hisham announced that there were 131 new cases as of noon today, bringing the total to 3,793.
There was one death, making the accumulated death toll 62. – April 6, 2020.
