THE Women, Family and Community Development Ministry has apologised for its tips for a harmonious home environment during the Covid-19 movement-control order, which raised the ire of social media users.

“We apologise if certain tips shared were unsuitable and stoked the sensitivity of certain quarters and (we) will be careful in the future,” the ministry said in a statement tonight

The ministry said its intention was to share ways to sustain a positive family relationship, especially when working from home, adding that it took note of the responses on the tips shared to its Facebook page.

It added that it also shared daily tips and positive messages along with the #wanitacegahCovid-19 campaign, which includes several themes and aspirations to share with women.

The ministry has issued several posters with guidelines on its social media platforms but two are deemed particularly insulting.

One poster advises women who work from home to dress up and put on makeup to stay focused and productive.

Another shows a couple together with the advice: “If you see your spouse doing something you don’t like, don’t lecture. Use a humorous approach instead by saying, ‘This is how you hang the laundry, dear.’ (and imitate Doraemon’s voice followed by a giggle!).”

The All Women’s Action Society (Awam) said it is dismayed at the lack of sensitivity and awareness in the posters. – March 31, 2020.

  • With a backdoor type of Government, this is the type of Ministers qualities Malaysia would have to put up with.
Don't forget this is only the starting nonsense with more ridiculous policies and advises to come.

  • How much did it cost to make the controversial tips? Was it necessary or was it another project to waste tax money?
