THE Health Ministry will help local authorities carry out Covid-19 disinfecting work, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The Health director-general said it will look into helping them implement the ministry’s standard operating procedure (SOP).

“We will see how they can follow the ministry’s SOP on what we should do and what we shouldn’t do.

“So, we will perhaps communicate with Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Housing and Local Government Ministry, as well as local councils, to give guidance on how to clean or disinfect areas,” he said in Putrajaya today.

Dr Noor Hisham was responding to reports quoting several medical experts who chided the councils for spraying disinfecting liquid on roads.

They had said spraying the liquid on the roads would not help curb the spread of Covid-19.

Dr Noor Hisham said the local councils may have proceeded with operations before getting the ministry’s guidelines.

“For example, the list of chemicals (to be used), which is approved by the World Health Organisation, and the method to do it (is included).

“This is an implementation issue. We will act by advising them on the right way to do it.” – March 31, 2020.
