ALL who were arrested during the movement-control order (MCO) period will be released after they have been processed at police stations to avoid creating new Covid-19 clusters, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The senior minister said police will decide whether to fine them or release them on bail after they are processed.
“The investigation papers will then be sent to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for them to decide whether to prosecute or not.
Ismail Sabri was responding to a question on whether the police are remanding those arrested for flouting the MCO and whether their detention would create new Covid-19 clusters.
Yesterday, Ismail Sabri told reporters that the police and army had arrested 742 people for flouting the MCO.
The government, meanwhile, will continue to disinfect more areas in the country.
“The government disinfected 47 areas yesterday (23 red zones and 24 orange zones),” said Ismail Sabri.
He said this is a continuing exercise until the end of the MCO on April 14.
Meanwhile, he said shops located along highways will be exempted from paying rent for the next six months.
“The management for PLUS, Latar, MEX, ProLintas, Kesas, Grand Saga and Grand Sepadu has agreed to give a 6-month exemption from rentals.” – March 31, 2020.

Why have the Govt stopped giving statistics of how many new infections related to the Tabligh gathering?
This is useful information as it tells you whether there are any new independent clusters or not
