Doctor, 9-month-old son die when ministry van crashes into ditch

A DOCTOR and her 9-month-old son were killed and seven others were injured when the ministry van they were travelling in crashed into a roadside ditch at Km11 of Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai near Kampung Renok Baru today.

Gua Musang Police chief superintendent Mohd Taufik Maidin identified those who died in the 9.50am crash as Dr Nooranisah Mohd Razali, 31, and Mohammad Fitri Yusof Muhammad Hafiz Zulilmi.

“The doctor died on the spot from severe injuries to the head and body while her son died at Gua Musang Hospital at 11.02am,” he said, adding that six others were healthcare workers while the driver and the van are from the Kuala Krai Hospital.

Taufik said the others are Dr Siti Salwa Mohamad Shokri, 38; Syahirah Muhamad Razali, 20; Dr Norazma Mohamad, 34; Dr Linda Laili Ibrahim Shukri, 29; Dr Suzuanhafian Omar, 32; Dr Hazirah Sazali, 33; and the van driver Mohd Lazim Abdullah, 56.

He said the injured are in stable condition at Gua Musang Hospital. 

The medical staff from Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital in Kuala Krai, were heading to Gua Musang Hospital on official duties, he said.

Taufik said the dead were taken to Gua Musang Hospital and the bodies were released to the family.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr Adham Baba, in a Facebook post, conveyed his condolences to the family of Dr Nooranisah. – Bernama, March 29, 2020.
