TERENGGANU today launched the state Covid-19 Aid Fund for the public to contribute towards helping those adversely affected by the spread of the virus.
Menteri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said to get the ball rolling, he and the 10 state executive councillors are deducting 50% of their monthly salary for two months to the fund.
“The extended period of the Movement Control Order will certainly have a huge impact on the socioeconomy of the people in the country.
“Therefore, I appeal for more donors, including corporate and private companies, to come forward to help ease the burden of people affected by Covid-19,” he said in a statement on his official Facebook page today.
He said those wishing to contribute to the fund could do so at Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad account number 13017010034566 while cheques should be made under “Tetuan Akauntan Negeri Terengganu”.
The contribution is eligible for tax exemption, he added.
On the Prihatin economic stimulus package announced by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday, Samsuri said the package was comprehensive and could bring relief to those adversely affected by Covid-19. – Bernama, March 28, 2020.
