Covid-19 claims 15th victim in Malaysia

A 71-year-old man from Malacca succumbed to the Covid-19 virus today, the 15th death in Malaysia, said Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The man, the 1,519th case, was suspected to have come into contact with the 703rd case, a man who attended the tabligh event at Masjid Jamek Sri Petaling in Kuala Lumpur earlier this month.

Noor Hisham said the deceased had a history of chronic illnesses and was admitted to Sultanah Fatimah Hospital in Muar on March 18, dying at 5.35am this morning.

As of yesterday, 57 patients were in intensive care units, while 159 patients have recovered.

More than half of all Covid-19 cases so far have been linked to the mosque tabligh cluster. – March 24, 2020.
