THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is investigating a lawmaker for allegedly abusing his power as a board member of a port.

Sources told The Malaysian Insight the member of parliament had allegedly abused his position by lobbying and protecting the company since 2014.

“He had used his influence and power to pressure port authorities to extend the relevant port management and administration contracts,” sources told The Malaysian Insight.

The authorities have refused to identify the MP just yet.

It is learnt that the anti-graft agency has been investigating the case for the past month and will be gathering evidence and taking statements from witnesses.

“A series of exposures and raids have also been made since February.

“It is understood that the MP will be called in for investigation soon,” sources said. – March 16, 2020.
