THREE Pakatan Harapan (PH) assemblymen have quit their respective parties to become independents following today’s collapse of the state government.

They are DAP’s Tronoh assemblyman Paul Yong and Buntong representative A. Sivasubramaniam, and Amanah’s Titi Serong representative Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim.

They announced their decision at a joint press conference today.

Yong said they made the decision in the interest of their voters.

“We have thought about this over the last few days and decided to become independents so the interests of our voters are taken care of.

“Perikatan Nasional will not be complete without the support from the Chinese and Indian communities,” he said during the announcement livestreamed on social media.

With the defection, Perikatan Nasional will count 32 assemblymen among its ranks while PH will have 24 in the 56-seat assembly.

Yong and Hasnul were executive councillors in the PH state government.

However, Yong took leave after he was charged with raping his maid last year.

He subsequently cancelled his leave and returned to work.

This morning Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu announced the demise of the PH government in the state. https://www.themalaysianinsight.com/s/226937

  • Silly politicians are falling back to communal politics again. These people truly do not understand the mission of PH in creating a New Malaysia where everyone progress together.
