Parliament to convene on May 18

PARLIAMENT will convene on May 18, said Speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof.

Berita Harian reported that he received a letter informing him of the new date last night.

“A press statement will be issued by Parliament in the morning.

“There won’t be a session on March 9. The new date for the start of the sitting is May 18.”

The House was originally scheduled to convene from next Monday till April 16, but the political crisis of the past week had cast doubt on whether the proceedings would take place as planned.

On Sunday, Ariff was reported as saying he would write to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin asking whether the sitting would carry on as scheduled or be postponed. – March 4, 2020.
