Struggles of past week paid off, says Azmin

THE new ruling pact headed by Muhyiddin Yassin will form a government in line with the Federal Constitution and the Rukun Negara, said Mohamed Azmin Ali. 

He added that with Muhyiddin’s ascension as the prime minister, the struggles of the past week to form a new government have paid off. 

“I am grateful to Allah SWT because our battle in the last one week to form a government has been successful,” he said in a statement. 

“This battle did go through some intense moments but we finally got the support of majority of the MPs to choose Muhyiddin Yassin as the eighth prime minister of Malaysia,” he said. 

He said the coalition was committed towards the national agenda to spur economic growth, guarantee shared prosperity and preserve national security and sovereignty to strengthen unity and institutional reforms. 

He also congratulated Muhyiddin on the mandate he was given to form a government.

He added that the Bersatu president was a leader with integrity and experience.

Muhyiddin was sworn in as the new prime minister today.

He replaces Dr Mahathir Mohamad who had resigned on February 24. His resignation, together with Bersatu pulling out of Pakatan Harapan, triggered the collapse of the government.

This morning, Dr Mahathir told the media that he felt most betrayed by Muhyiddin, who was working towards becoming prime minister. 

On Azmin, Dr Mahathir said he had his own agenda. 

“He has his own agenda but he has chosen to work with Muhyiddin,” he said of the former economic affairs minister. – March 1, 2020.

  • What integrity? He betrayed the peoples will by taking Bersatu out of Harapan. None of the MPs in Bersatu have any integrity. They have put personal interests before that of the nation. The whole exercise is simply to stop the trials against the corrupt. Its sickening.

  • It was not struggles for rakyat that Azmin went through over the past week but a total and complete betrayal of the rakyat who sent him to parliament. Azmin only struggles to hide his lies, explain his justifications of his actions and he will forever struggles to justify his betrayal for the forces of good over gang of evils.
    Whatever "rewards" from his betrayal is poisoned, he is too naive to realize what will coming down the pipe.
    History will never be kind to him and his gang of Judas.

  • None of them will emerge from this episode with his reputation intact; not Mahathir, Azmin, Anwar and certainly not Muhyiddin. Who knows from the ashes of this imbroglio may rise better politicians in the future. As for Dr Mahathir, it is time to slip into oblivion and pray that history will treat you gently.
    For Anwar perhaps one last try before calling it a day. As for Muhyiddin, Azmin and the other crooks abetting these two, enjoy the brief calm before the storm arrives and your ultimate destination, Sungai Buloh.

  • He is in mosquito party Bersatu It will be wiped out,He will create havoc in the party with his backstabbing ways. Next election he will stand or if umno allows him to stand in some place against PKR I can just see his election poster with the word PENGKHIANAT all over He will definetely lose
