Video emerges of Zamihan criticising the PM

A VIDEO clip has emerged of controversial preacher Zamihan Mat Zin calling Prime Minister Najib Razak “unintelligent” for giving a 16ha piece of land to Saudi Arabia.

In an undated video on YouTube , Zamihan said Putrajaya’s decision in July to allot land in the administrative capital for the King Salman Centre for International Peace to combat terrorism was unrealistic.

“Yesterday, the PM announced that we will build the King Salman Centre for International Peace in Putrajaya and that the government will allot 16ha or 40 acres of land for it.

“The proposal to give land to Saudi to fight terrorism is not realistic. And it is okay if Saudi doesn’t come to Malaysia to counter terrorism. We already have the police, the Home Ministry, Prisons Department and other security institutions like the National Security Council,” said Zamihan, who got into trouble last month after a video of him criticising the Johor sultan went viral.

“These should be enough. Why do we need to rely on Saudis to fight Daesh (Islamic State)? Saudis are the ones who gave birth to Daesh,” said Zamihan in the two-minute video, which was uploaded on October 23 and which has received 65,000 views.

In Cheras today, Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said police had completed their investigation into Zamihan for sedition over his criticism of the Johor sultan and handed the papers to the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

“We are waiting for follow-up action,” he said.

Zamihan, who is no stranger to controversy, also asked how Saudi Arabia was expected to fight terrorism in Southeast Asia if it could not contain Daesh in its own region.

The Islamic Development Department (Jakim) officer, who was seconded to the Prisons Department to help reform jailed terrorists, also asked why the government had not sought the opinions of  academics, security experts and people like himself on the matter.

“Why don’t they ask us for our opinion? It is Zamihan who goes in and out of prisons to interact with the terrorists.

“For me, PM’s actions is not intelligent. Is it because we have borrowed money from them and taken their funds and obtained assistance with the MoU on the haj quota that we have decided to give them the land?

“Do they want to take action against me as a civil servant? Please go ahead…”

Zamihan has not responded to The Malaysian Insight’s calls or whatsapp messages.

On Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had praised Zamihan, who is now barred from speaking in Selangor and Johor, as an asset in de-radicalisation programmes.

Zamihan recently stirred up controversy again when he criticised a muezzin in Penang for offering non-Muslim flood victims shelter in a surau. – November 11, 2017.

  • Zamihan spoke the truth. The only problem is he might be on current government's payroll, other than that he spoke of public knowledge that MO1 is stupid, unintelligent, thief, lanun, criminal, etc. Zamihan might find better platform to speak his mind that represent some voters in the country.

  • Some people have the talent to attract attention whenever they open their mouth. We remember the chief ass officer of axa affin life insurance - that has the talent to humiliate, bully, lie and unwarranted sexual avance on staff/agent. Hundreds of staff/agent jumped ship to join competitors. Read more at www.changenow083.blogspot.com

  • “Why do we need to rely on Saudis to fight Daesh (Islamic State)? Saudis are the ones who gave birth to Daesh”. Can we interpret that as a disagreement of sorts between the DPM, who described Zamihan as an asset in the deradicalisation programme of religious extremists, and the PM, who favours the Saudis instead?

  • For once I agree with this Zamihan character. Also why are we providing such a large acreage - just don't seem to add up.
The interesting thing about Zamihan is he's his own man - that I have to somewhat admire.
