POLICE will come down hard on anyone bringing in outside elements to cause trouble in the current political impasse, the inspector-general of police has warned.

Abdul Hamid Bador said he was well aware of such talks.

“I am warning them not to do so. This is an act of treason,” he told reporters after having an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara today.

He also urged people not to share fake news, and not to speculate on anything.

“Political leaders are also reminded to carry out their activities in accordance with the law, and not cause trouble,” he said.

He added that the Agong urged police to remain vigilant.

Meanwhile, Armed Forces chief Affendi Buang said the army was standing by to face any threats.

He said his men were on alert at the nation’s borders.

“We have increased our preparedness so that no one can take advantage.

“We have also increased patrols in our areas of operations so that we can monitor any movement,” he told reporters at Istana Negara. – February 28, 2020.
