KEDAH Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir will meet the Kedah ruler, Sultan Sallahuddin Badlishah, this morning following Bersatu’s decision to quit Pakatan Harapan.

The meeting will take place after Mukhriz’s meeting with exco members and assemblymen at his official residence in Sri Mentaloon.

This meeting is a continuation of talks from last night.

The issue on hand is the status of the Bersatu-led state government as the party does not have a majority of seats on its own.

A press conference is expected to be held at 11am after Mukhriz’s meeting with the sultan.

Muhkriz returned to Kedah yesterday and held a meeting with his exco members at Sri Mentaloon for two hours from 9pm.

Exco member Halimaton Saadiah Saad said that the outcome of the meeting will benefit Kedah folk.

“It is all well for now. We will do what’s best for the people,” she said briefly.

Mukhriz said last night he needed some time before issuing a statement.

Kedah is one of four states in trouble after Bersatu’s decision to leave PH on Monday.

In Kedah, without Bersatu (6), PH backed by DAP (4), PKR (7) and Amanah (2) has fewer seats than the opposition – PAS and Umno.

Umno and PAS, which formed a political cooperation last September, have a total of 17 seats, with PAS (15) and Umno (2). – February 27, 2020.
