MOHAMED Azmin Ali and Zuraida Kamaruddin must vacate their parliamentary seats after being sacked from PKR, said the party’s youth wing vice-chief Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman.

He said the nine other members who left the party to follow Azmin should do the same.

“They have no dignity after betraying the party, and now are running away with the seats won under the party banner.

“They must realise that their victory was through PKR. The voters gave them the mandate as they stood under the PKR banner, not because of their individual capacity.

“They should feel embarrassed and return the seats so that the voters can decide once again who should represent them,” said Syed Badli in a statement.

PKR on Monday sacked its deputy president Azmin, who is the Gombak MP, and vice-president Zuraida, the Ampang MP, for working against the interests of the party.

Nine other MPs left the party to join Azmin in forming anindependent bloc in parliament.

They are Saifuddin Abdullah (Indera Mahkota), Baru Bian (Selangau), Kamaruddin Jaffar (Bandar Tun Razak), Mansor Othman (Nibong Tebal), Rashid Hasnon (Batu Pahat), Santhara Kumar (Segamat), Ali Biju (Saratok), Willie Mongin (Puncak Borneo) and Jonathan Yasin (Ranau).

Azmin’s group had earlier hoped to form a government with Umno and PAS, along with Bersatu, and oust Pakatan Harapan as the ruling pact.

However, the attempt failed when Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned as the prime minister on Monday, saying that he refused to work with Umno.

Umno and Pas now demand a snap election while Azmin’s faction want Dr Mahathir to remain in office. – February 27, 2020.
