PAS is flip-flopping by rejecting the proposal of a cross-party government when it had previously mooted the same, said Mahfuz Omar.

The Amanah vice-president said PAS’ rejection of Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s proposal also runs counter to the Islamist party’s previous stance of wanting to move a confidence vote in Parliament to allow Dr Mahathir to finish his term.

Muafakat Nasional MPs said yesterday that they do not support a government involving all parties, which would have included DAP, and prefer fresh elections to resolve the political crisis following Pakatan Harapan’s collapse.

“(Umno and PAS) have proposed that Parliament be dissolved if the proposed government includes DAP.

“I find their decision strange because they are the ones who wanted to move the confidence vote in Parliament for Dr Mahathir to lead the country until the end of his term.”

He said PAS was willing to move the confidence vote despite knowing that Dr Mahathir was leading PH, a pact that includes DAP.

“Why can’t they accept DAP all of a sudden? If we want a cross-party government without an opposition, we have to accept anyone into the government to build Malaysia.

“I am baffled by the flip-flop politics brought by PAS. This group is anti-Malaysia, anti-unity and anti-peace, all things Malaysians want,” he said. – February 26, 2020.
