MASZLEE Malik tonight said he is still with Bersatu, as the party meets hours after it left Pakatan Harapan and Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned as its chairman shortly after quitting as prime minister.

The former education minister said he would not have showed up for the supreme council’s emergency meeting if he was no longer a member.

“I am here for the meeting. When did I quit?” he told reporters as he headed into the Bersatu headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

It was reported earlier that the Simpang Renggam MP was among several MPs who quit Bersatu.

The others said to have left the party are deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir, who is also Kedah menteri besar; Rural Development Minister and Titiwangsa MP Rina Harun; Youth and Sports Minister and Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman; and, Masjid Tanah MP Mas Emeryanti.

The meeting tonight will be chaired by president Muhyiddin Yassin.

Bersatu now has 26 lawmakers in Parliament. – February 24, 2020.
