DAP leaders convene for emergency meeting at HQ

DAP leaders have gathered at party headquarters in Jalan Pudu for a high-powered meeting as speculation continues over a new coalition being incepted in Putrajaya.

Among those seen arriving were DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, Bukit Bintang MP Foong Kui Lun, Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching, Damansara MP Tony Pua, Selangor Speaker Ng Suee Lin, Bakri MP Yeo Bee Yin, Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, and Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo.

Also present were state party leaders and others holding government positions.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng arrived later fresh from a meeting with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad at Seri Kembangan. He was there with PKR and Amanah presidents Anwar Ibrahim and Mohamad Sabu, respectively.

Lim had driven up in his own car to join Anwar and Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya, but the three seen leaving the building shortly afterwards in their official cars to Dr Mahathir’s residence. Mohamad met with the trio there. 

DAP youth chief Howard Lee, when asked on the agenda for the DAP meeting, responded that it was “all good” and that it was “business as usual”.

Scores of journalists have waited at the headquarters lobby since 11am in expectation of news about yesterday’s numerous meetings between several political parties keen to form the federal government with Dr Mahathir’s Bersatu. – February 24, 2020.
