PAKATAN Harapan (PH) is still the government of the day and will carry on with administering the country, said Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad as speculation is rife in Putrajaya.

He urged everyone to be patient and wait for a decision by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah, who granted an audience to six party leaders yesterday.

Dzulkefly added the PH presidential council in its Friday meeting had agreed to give prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad the decision to set the date for his departure from office.

“We have our presidential council that is chaired by Tun (Dr Mahathir) and we will support his decision (when he wants to step down).

“That’s Amanah stand on the matter,” he said after the launch of the National Fatigue Management Awareness Campaign and Seminar for Healthcare Providers today.

Dzulkefly is Amanah’s strategic director.

He was responding to speculation that PH component party Bersatu led by Dr Mahathir would form a government with Umno and PAS.

Amanah vice-president Mahfuz Omar, who also attended this morning’s event, said the party respected the PH presidential council’s decision and will continue to support Dr Mahathir.

“We don’t know about this Pakatan Nasional.

“What the people want is stability. They don’t want the return of a government that was rejected. That is Umno and Barisan Nasional.”

Mahfuz had said previously even Dr Mahathir demonised Umno.

“We will stick to the decision on the transition that was said by Tun (Dr Mahathir).”

Those who met with the Agong yesterday were Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

Warisan president and Sabah Chief Minister Shafie Apdal, and Gabungan Parti Sarawak president and Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg were also present. – February 24, 2020.
