PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said unhappy leaders should speak up instead of spreading discontent, after news that 3,000 members in Sarawak have quit the party.

“Obviously, there are small, desperate factions within PKR that are trying to do this. The leaders instigating this should speak up and don’t use these minions,” he told reporters after attending an event in Bangi, Selangor, today.

A Borneo Post report alleges 3,000 PKR members from the Tanjung Manis branch in Sarawak have announced leaving the party with immediate effect, citing dissatisfaction with the leadership.

Former branch secretary Hasrol Ali said they are also against Anwar becoming the next prime minister.

Anwar said he did not know the Tanjung Manis branch had that many members.

“It is just propaganda. I challenge the numbers,” he said, adding anyone who wanted to leave PKR had the right to do so.

According to Anwar, the party currently has 1.1 million members. – February 22, 2020.

  • Not happy, pls resign individually, where can anyone collect 3 thousand members to resign as a block. This is obviously the job of a few dissatisfied leaders or votes out leaders. If they don't resign , I think PKR shouldn't he identify the few instigators and sack them without hesitation.
