ONE man has been pulled out of the rubble after part of a condominium under construction collapsed in Taman Desa, Jalan Klang Lama, Kuala Lumpur, today.
The victim, a Bangladeshi, 37, has been sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.
Another unidentified victim has been found by Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department personnel, with efforts still in progress to rescue him.
“Authorities are evaluating the surrounding area to ascertain the number of victims. We can confirm at this juncture only one victim remains under the rubble,” the spokesman said.
He added that firemen were facing trouble getting the victim out due to the instability of the building.
A one minute-long video clip showing the collapse of a building structure has gone viral.
Meanwhile, a statement believed to have been issued by project developer Maxim Holdings Sdn Bhd acknowledged concerns by buyers and other quarters on the ”giving way of The Address 2 swimming pool slab (6th floor) during concrete casting”.
Maxim assured that the cause of the collapse is being investigated, and that it will provide updates in the coming days.
“We assure you we are committed to ensuring the highest of building standard and the integrity of the development is of prime importance. We will spare no effort in ensuring that our obligations under the SPA (sale and purchase agreement) are fulfilled fully,” the statement read. – February 14, 2020.
