THE Kedah Football Association (KFA) has urged those who have evidence of players’ involvement in match-fixing or bribery to lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

KFA president Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said those who accused Kedah players of accepting bribes during the Malaysia Cup final against Johor Darul Ta’zim on Saturday should come forward and lodge a report.

He said this was important to uphold the integrity of football in the state.

Those who posted such allegations on social media must come forward and report the matter to MACC and provide evidence, so that investigations can be carried out,” he told reporters after launching the Menteri Besar Cup football competition in Alor Star today.

He was commenting on a report, which has gone viral online, that seven Kedah players had been bribed RM200,000 each.

Bashah, who is also menteri besar, said accusations without evidence were “not genuine”.

On the state Umno Youth’s call for him to step down as KFA president, Bashah said he would continue serving as head of the association until a decision was made by the KFA executive council.

The state Umno Youth also called for the resignations of other “political leaders” from the association. – Bernama, November 7, 2017.
