Tamrin Ghafar to face police for criticising Johor palace

FORMER Batu Berendam MP Tamrin Ghafar has been summoned to Bukit Aman tomorrow for a social media posting, which was critical of the Johor palace.

Tamrin, who confirmed that he would be at federal police headquarters at 11am tomorrow, said he was being questioned over his blog entry, which mentioned Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar and crown prince Tunku Ismail Ibrahim.

“I will be giving my statement tomorrow morning over my blog posting. I will be accompanied by my lawyer,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

The article was posted on February 2, openly criticising the sultan and his son.

Tamrin, son of former deputy prime minister Ghafar Baba, also criticised the Johor government for yielding to the palace.

In his article, he also said he was ready to face actions for his writing. – February 9, 2020.

  • One must remember the importance of rule of law. It applies to all regardless of position, status,riches and authority. Most importantly rule of law safeguard each and every individual citizen. If u don't want to be bullied, harrassed and exploited by the rich and powerful, respect and protect rule of law in our country.
