PKR’S political bureau has agreed to allow vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin to take leave from all party positions pending the disciplinary proceedings against her, said Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
“The political bureau has agreed to her letter, in which she has stated her intention to go on leave,” Saifudin, who is the party’s secretary-general, told reporters in Putrajaya today.
He said party president Anwar Ibrahim had presented the letter to the political bureau, after which the decision was made.
It was reported that Zuraida, who is housing and local government minister, sent a letter to Anwar on Monday to air her intention to go on leave from her post as the party’s vice-president and Ampang division chief until the end of the disciplinary process.
Zuraida’s speech against Anwar at a dinner event on December 8 after the party’s national congress is believed to be the cause of the disciplinary action against her.
Meanwhile, on his defamation suit against Zuraida, Saifuddin said the matter was in his lawyer’s hands.
“I leave it to my lawyer. We are still waiting for Zuraida to respond,” he said.
Zuraida said earlier that she was prepared to face the two defamation suits filed by Saifuddin and Anwar’s political secretary, Farhash Wafa Salvador. – February 7, 2020.
