Canadian teen collapses at KLCC, rushed to hospital by hazmat team

A CANADIAN girl, 17, who collapsed at KLCC, was rushed to Hospital Kuala Lumpur today after receiving medical attention from a hazardous material (hazmat) team as a precautionary measure against coronavirus.

“The immediate thing in our mind is novel coronavirus, but the way the symptoms present themselves it could be other illnesses like a heart-related condition,” Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said in a press conference today, after confirming the team’s presence at the incident.

“Our measure was to make sure this was taken care of… we are not taking any chances. It’s better to be safe than sorry.”

Dzulkefly also said the ministry will be in touch with the hospital for further information.

Earlier today, photos of the hazmat team and police attending to the patient at Tower 3 went viral on social media.

The hazmat team is a special unit under the Fire and Rescue Department, which deals with chemical, radiological and biological incidents. – February 5, 2020.
