“TODAY is Monday, I dont feel good today. I’ve completed 42 days and I want to call my mum, I want to tell her I want to move out from the school because I was punched without any reason yesterday,” Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Gaddafi wrote in his homework book.

The 11-year-old, who died yesterday days after both his legs were amputated as a result of alleged beating at the religious school, had been keeping a diary to express the terrible pain he endured while he was there.

He could not wait for the day to be over so he could call his mother.

“He told me to wash the tray. It was not even my turn. He forced me to do it. I proceeded to wash the cup and as I was about to put it away, he came and punched me on my back,” Thaqif wrote.

The person who allegedly hit him was an assistant warden at the school.

In his entry, Thaqif also pleaded to God to open the hearts of his parents and teachers to allow him to move to another school.

“I could not stand it anymore. Dear God please fulfill my prayer, please open my parents’ hearts, Ustaz Afdal and Sheikh Fahmi so that they will allow me to move to another school,” he wrote.

Thaqif kept writing the ‘doa’ pleading to God to fulfill his prayer.

The boy had also expressed his desire to be a huffaz (a person who has memorised the Quran).

Diary entry: “I want to be a huffaz in two years. I know I can do it. Thaqif you can do it!”

He also wrote that in order to be a huffaz, he had to listen to his parents, pray five times a day and memorise the easier chapters first.

Thaqif, who died at 2.05pm yesterday, was admitted to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for a bacterial infection allegedly caused by abuse at the school.

The infection damaged Thaqif’s limbs. His legs had to be amputated on April 21 after he was admitted on April 19.

He was buried last night after the post-mortem.

The man who was accused of beating Thaqif is being investigated for murder.

The suspect has been remanded for seven days starting today to assist police in the murder probe.

The port-mortem report is expected to be ready in two weeks. – April 27, 2017.
