PERAK Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu will meet with the management of Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) regarding compensation for workers whose services have been terminated.
He said the meeting is to find out, among others, the date of compensation payout for 265 permanent workers whose contracts were terminated abruptly following the closure of the theme park effective January 28.
“The matter has not been communicated to me. I have not met with the management. After we have met, either I or the management will inform you,” he told reporters after a Chinese New Year event in Taman Mas, Tapah today.
On January 29, a statement issued by Animation Theme Park Sdn Bhd (ATP) directors Zadrul Insan Mustadza and Yang Idros Yang Razali said the 265 MAPS workers who were laid off will be compensated according to the guidelines of the Employment Act but did not specify the amount of compensation.
The closure notice was issued by the receiver and manager of ATP from Ernst & Young. The theme park, which was opened to the public in 2017, was built at a cost of RM520 million. – Bernama, February 3, 2020.
