AirAsia pledges relief support for flood stricken Penang

LOW cost carrier AirAsia will support Penang flood relief efforts by offering assistance to non-profit organisations which require air transport to deliver relief items.

It will also help fly medical personnel to Penang.

“We are saddened by the flood tragedy in Penang and we pledge to do what we can to help alleviate the distress.

“AirAsia is committed to the philosophy no corporation can live apart from the community it serves.

“It is our responsibility to extend a helping hand in their time of need,” said AirAsia Bhd executive chairman Kamarudin Meranun in Kuala Lumpur today.

Relief aid agencies requiring air transport support can send their request to [email protected] where instructions on delivery and cargo requirements would be provided after evaluation, he said.

Medical personnel who are required to be in Penang, can also send in their request to [email protected] for flight purposes, said Kamarudin, who is also group chief executive officer, AirAsia X Group.

The public may visit AirAsia’s Facebook (facebook.com/AirAsia) and Twitter (twitter.com/AirAsia) to obtain more information on AirAsia’s relief efforts, he added. – Bernama, November 6, 2017.
