PKR vice president Zuraida Kamaruddin has replied to all three allegations made against her by party disciplinary board, despite the fact they are “inadequate”, said her political aide.

“I have informed the disciplinary board that the allegations against Zuraida were not right as they were referenced from transcripts of her speeches, including at the Renaissance Hotel,” said Noor Hizwan Ahmad at the PKR head office in Petaling Jaya today.

“However, we did not receive any of the transcripts or text,” he added.

Noor Hizwan said Zuraida – who is also housing and local government minister – nevertheless replied to the three allegations “out of respect for the disciplinary committee despite reservations about the transcripts”.

Noor Hizwan spoke to reporters after submitting the minister’s reply to the disciplinary board at 12.45pm today amid a gathering of hundreds of pro- and anti-Zuraida supporters.

On January 15, the PKR disciplinary board issued a show cause letter to Zuraida for comments she made in her speeches at the Renaissance Hotel on December 8.

Zuraida, and several other PKR leaders aligned to Economic Affairs Minister and party deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, blasted party leaders in the opposing faction during a Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 dinner.

SPV 2030 is administered by the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Noor Hizwan said Zuraida could not submit her reply in person because she had to attend a cabinet meeting in Putrajaya, adding that she would continue in that capacity until instructed otherwise.

Meanwhile, Noor Hizwan confirmed that Zuraida has received a letter of demand from PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

“It was sent to the minister’s office, but there is no defamation suit as yet,” said Noor Hizwan.

Yesterday, Saifuddin told reporters that he planned to sue Zuraida for defamation over her comments at the dinner.
