GERAKAN Reformis Keadilan (Gerak) will lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission against Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin over abuse of power.

In a statement today, Gerak chairman Zainurizzaman Moharam alleged Zuraida has abused her position as a minister by using pressure group Penggerak Dasar Komuniti Negara or Penggerak Muafakat to champion party issues.

“This NGO has been used as a mouthpiece to issue statements to support Zuraida as the PKR vice-president.

“This has raised questions on how a ministry supported NGO should be involved in party matters,” said Zainurizzaman.

He said it also raises questions whether government funds are being used to hold programmes for the benefit of Zuraida and her supporters.

Zainurizzaman mobilised almost 100 supporters at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya today urging the party to sack Zuraida.

The minister is expected to submit her reply to a party show-cause letter today.

Also gathered at the PKR head office today was a small group of Zuraida supporters, who want the party to retract the show-cause letter against the minister.

Zuraida was asked to explain some of her remarks at a dinner in the Renaissance Hotel on December 8 last year. – January 29, 2020.
