GRABPAY said today it has seen a 50% rise in users of its e-wallet app since the launch of the e-Tunai Rakyat initiative by the government.
GrabPay managing director Ooi Huey Tyng said half of the users who received the RM30 disbursement have already made a transaction, with more than 70 per cent spent at participating merchants.
“We are greatly encouraged by these numbers, and with the support and push from the government and the industry as a whole, we anticipate these numbers will increase in the coming days,” she said in a statement.
The e-Tunai Rakyat initiative was launched with the aim of encouraging Malaysians to embrace the burgeoning digital economy. – Bernama, January 23, 2020.
