PAKATAN Harapan (PH) does not need PAS as an ally, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said today.

“Pakatan is intact and does not need PAS,” he said when asked about talk of a new political alignment involving Bersatu and PAS, as speculated by news portal Free Malaysia Today (FMT).

FMT cited unnamed sources in its report after Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s recent meeting with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang earlier this month.

Dr Mahathir yesterday dismissed any conspiracy in the meeting, saying he met guests who called on him.

Saifuddin, who is also domestic trade and consumer affairs minister, said any move to admit a new party to the PH coalition will be made based on consensus rather than by majority.

“I see this as a rumour. I do not see the reasons for PH accepting a new member,” he told reporters today while attending the soft-launch of the Food Bank Malaysia programme in Kajang. – January 21, 2020.
