PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin has hit back at PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail for asking her to keep calm and answer the show-cause letter.

She said she is always calm when the party is facing issues.

“I’m still with the party to bring up the party. I’m calm but he is not,” she said after launching the monthly assembly at the Local Housing and Government Ministry in Putrajaya.

Yesterday, Saifuddin told Zuraida to keep calm and focus on replying to the show-cause letter issued to her instead of expressing concerns about the disciplinary board being influenced.

Zuraida was served with a show-cause letter on Friday and given 14 days to reply.

She said she will do so by January 29.

Though Saifuddin did not divulge the content of the letter, Zuraida said she was hauled up yesterday over her speech at the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 dinner on December 8 at the Renaissance Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

It was reported that she told the event PKR president Anwar Ibrahim tried to convince her that it was his deputy, Mohamed Azmin Ali, in gay sex videos that went viral last June.

Zuraida, a staunch supporter of the party No. 2, said her speech is mentioned in the show-cause letter.

Attorney-General Tommy Thomas last week said deputy public prosecutors unanimously decided not to press charges as investigators were unable to positively identify the men in the videos.

The clips purportedly show Azmin and former Santubong PKR youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz being intimate.

The scandal has deepened the rift between Azmin and Anwar, whose followers have been accused of plotting against the deputy president. – January 21, 2020.
