Zahid says Ambiga must not hide from responsibilities

LAWYER S. Ambiga must be held responsible for providing data and information to Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown which alleged PAS received money from Prime Minister Najib Razak.

“We know Ambiga’s attitude – being bold when she is at the back, (but) afraid when she is in front. She avoids meeting the press … no courage,” said Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“If she has proof, (she must) be brave … she need not hide. She must have the courage to be responsible for all the data and information provided.”

Zahid, who is also home minister, was commenting on the report in the portal The Malaysian Insight which exposed the reply and defence filed by Rewcastle-Brown by saying she had spoken to Ambiga in July last year on Najib, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and PAS.

The defence was filed by Rewcastle-Brown in the slander suit filed by PAS president Hadi Awang at the London High Court in April by linking the article that claimed PAS had received a RM90 million fund as a reward for supporting the Barisan Nasional.

The article in the Sarawak Report was titled “As Najib denies all over 1MDB let’s not forget his many other criminal connections” published on August 6 last year.

“If you want to play politics, do so in a courteous manner. All this while, whatever is written by the Sarawak Report is considered as the gospel truth by the opposition,” he said. – Bernama, November 2, 2017.
