Phone tapping likely an inside job, says Najib’s lawyer

Najib Razak's lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah says the phone tapping operation apparently conducted against the former prime minister during his time in office was likely an inside job as only a very high-ranking official can authorise it. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Afif Abd Halim, January 8, 2020.

NAJIB Razak’s lawyer believes that the tapping of the former prime minister’s phone in early 2016 could only have been carried out as a result of a conspiracy within the government, and not an individual.

“I have my doubts that it is an individual,” Muhammad Shafee Abdullah told reporters after the SRC International hearing today.
