THE Tourism Ministry is targeting four million China tourists and another million from India as part of Visit Malaysia Year 2020, said Mohamaddin Ketapi.
The numbers are part of the 30 million target set for this year, he said, adding that it’s also targeting revenue of RM100 billion from these tourists.
“These numbers will put back Malaysia as a top 10 destination in the world,” said Mohamaddin after officiating a tourism-related event in Kuala Lumpur today.
As part of its attempt to woo more Chinese and Indian visitors, Putrajaya last week announced a 15-day visa-free entry for the whole of 2020.
Mohamaddin, however, denied that such flexibility would not result in these tourists overstaying in the country.
“We have laws to overcome this situation.
“With the visa-free ruling, we can expect more tourists from China and India, but I can’t tell you the exact number.” – January 3, 2020.
