AIR force deputy chief Lt Gen Ackbal Abdul Samad was today appointed as the 19th chief of the force.

He succeeds Gen Affendi Buang, who became armed forces chief yesterday.

Affendi affixed the general’s rank on Ackbal and handed over the air force baton of command at the Subang Airbase this morning.

In his speech, Affendi said Ackbal is the best man to lead the air force.
