Anti-Dong Zong rally in reality attack against DAP

APART from Umno Siswa’s Mubarak Kunyi, yesterday’s “student” protest against Dong Zong’s anti-Jawi stance was nothing more than an opportunity for PAS to attack Pakatan Harapan and its arch enemy DAP.

The chants resemble those often heard at PAS events. The marshals escorting the “student” protesters are from PAS’ Unit Amal.

Even the speakers at the Malaysian Muslim Students Coalition, or Gamis, protest are from PAS.

“Why is Dong Zong so bold as to reject Jawi when it’s only three pages and still up to the PTAs to decide whether to have it in vernacular schools or not?” asked PAS youth information chief Khairul Nadzir in front of the busy Sogo shopping mall in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.

“Why make this a big issue? Dong Zong is bold today because the government is weak, and DAP and MCA are both using this issue to attract Chinese votes.

“These parties have no shame as it will threaten unity in the country,” said Khairul without irony given that PAS deploys the same tactic to gather angry Malay votes against PH.

The allegation that Dong Zong threatens unity is matched by threats, such as Gerakan Pembela Ummah (Ummah) deputy president Mohd Zai Mustafa’s promise that “chaos” will ensue if the education group continues to reject Jawi.

“If Dong Zong insists on rejecting Jawi, we will go around the country to get Malays to defend Jawi,” said the right-wing leader.

Ummah rose to prominence last year when it organised a “Buy Muslim First” campaign prior to the Umno-PAS unity conference in the capital.

He also accused Dong Zong of being a “racist” and “communist-backed” organisation.

Umno’s sole representative Mubarak added to the rhetoric by urging the government to ban Dong Zong for challenging Malay culture because it wants the government to review its decision to introduce Jawi in vernacular schools.

“Dong Zong is backed by DAP, which is racist and promotes communist ideology,” said the Universiti Malaya student.

Although the protest’s goal is to uphold Jawi, there was little said about how this will be done as neither PAS nor Umno uses the script any more in its correspondence or website.

In fact, before Umno sold its party mouthpiece Utusan Melayu, the party stopped printing its weekly Jawi newspaper, Utusan Melayu Mingguan, in January 2006.

But Gamis president Saifullah Baiduri remains worked up about Dong Zong.

“We will keep holding protests to get Dong Zong banned and wiped out from the face of the earth.

“We will also send a memorandum to the palace,” he said at the end of the one-hour rally which police declared illegal. – January 2, 2020.

  • By the same logic, 3 pages if Chinese language characters should he introduced to Malay Text book to enhance national unity and harmony. These demonstrates are well educated but the brain is Not thinking right. Sad case again, another 'qustan' act of the educated but backward thinking group. No wonder many can not find a job.

  • Go ahead and change SK to SJ...nobody stopping you. Ya 3 page is nothing, so why protest against DZ and behave rowdy and why blame the vernacular schools. Got so much challenges for a small economy like Malaysia. Go and do something that benefits the nation.

  • We dont have to be political correct an appease a section of the majority who have become tyrannical. This is not an attack against DAP, not al all. After the defeat of the CORRUPTED UMNO to which many members of Bersatu were members, it was always the intention of DR M to consolidate the Malay base. To do that , DR M has uses the religious /race card-Indians ( DAP members) were arrested and charged with draconian
    legislation, the educational system( that damaged Malaysia's youth for decades) is being changed to irritate and cause disaffection, Zakir Naik is a nominee of DR M to suggest that Non-Muslims are no loyal to Malaysia

    • Additionally, many policies are being promoted against Non-Muslims. When the latter want to express their freedom of speech, DR M uses that as a reason to suggest that Non-Muslims want to take over Malaysia. This gets Muslims youth to be riled up-Religion is being used to push the Malay Dilemma agenda. DR M was always a racist, a Malay supremacist-now he wants to join with Hishamuddin and get rid of all the other Malaysia in UMNO who are against him-to once more start up UMNO .

      When DR M promotes hatred, divisiveness, segregation and racial supremacy to Malay Muslim youth who are innocent-they will go radical. We must remember , the marauding crowds in Pakistan and Indonesia who violently attacked other races/religious. This may be a loose canon, that even DR M wont be able to control What a shame, DR M rather than redeeming himself for all the shit he created in 22 years of leadership, now seems to go down that slippery slope. Malays dont deserve some one like him and common sense should prevail-Malaysia is a multireligious, cultural and racial country-lets build a strong patriotic nation.
