THE flash flood at Federal Highway yesterday was caused by the overflow of mud and debris from a construction site in Bangsar South.

This was revaled by Natural Resources and Environment Minister Wan Junaidi Jaafar today.

He said the mud and debris, following a two-hour downpour, clogged
the culvert and caused water to overflow onto the road.

“We found it was mud and debris that caused the flash flood and not a drainage or irrigation problem.

“We also found out the rivers – five – still have the capacity to contain water that goes into the river,” said Wan Junaidi.

He said investigation is being carried out to ascertain when the project was approved.
