POLLUTION at the Sg Semenyih water treatment plant has resulted in unscheduled water cuts in parts of the Klang Valley.

Air Selangor said in a notification on their official app that the pollution caused the plant to be shut down at 10am today.

It said that several areas would be affected by unscheduled water disruptions in stages.

“A timeframe on when the water treatment plant would be operational again has not been established at this time. It will depend on the level of contamination,” it said.

Air Selangor also said that updates will be issued from time to time and action will be taken to ease the impact of the water cuts.

It advised consumers to download the Air Selangor app or visit its website for more information and updates.

On Facebook, Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (Luas) said the plant was shut down today after a solvent-like odour was detected.

“Luas, Air Selangor and other relevant agencies are carrying out investigations to identify the source of pollution and implement immediate measures to check it,” it said.
