DISAPPOINTED with the vandalism that happened within a day of Taman Tasik Titiwangsa reopening, Khalid Abdul Samad has ordered an increase in closed-circuit television cameras and security.

“We opened the park just yesterday. Regrettably, there are some who take pride in the destruction of public property,” said the Federal Territories minister in Putrajaya today.

It was reported that signs at the Kuala Lumpur park were vandalised and rubbish was scattered in the area.

Khalid said the public had waited a long time to get to enjoy the park again, after it was closed for a makeover on September 1 last year.

He said the park will be officially reopened next year, and the exact date will be announced later.

“There are still one or two services in the works, but because the park is already looking beautiful, we felt it should be opened to visitors.”

On unauthorised bicycle operators, Khalid said they should apply for a licence from Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

“It’s not that we’re not permitting it, but they should have a licence and adhere to the rules.” – Bernama, December 16, 2019.
