ANWAR Ibrahim has issued a letter of demand to his accuser, Mohammed Yusoff Rawther, to explain his allegations of sexual assault two weeks ago, said the PKR president’s lawyer, Ramkarpal Singh.

Ramkarpal said the letter was sent to Yusoff’s lawyer, Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla, following their earlier failure to serve it to Yusoff.

Ramkarpal told The Malaysian Insight Anwar wants Yusoff to explain the allegations of sexual assault as well as to disclose if he was the one who filed a statutory declaration on the alleged incident.

The Tasik Gelugor MP had previously told reporters he would file a defamation suit on behalf of Anwar should Yusoff admit to being the person who made the SD.

“We have managed to submit the letter to his lawyer, Haniff Khatri. We will wait for a reply from the lawyer,” Ramkarpal said.

Haniff, meanwhile, said he has yet to be informed by his staff about the legal notice.

“As of Thursday, no. I was in Penang from Thursday and will be back in the office tomorrow. Will check when I go to the office,” he said when contacted.

Yusoff, a former researcher for the PKR president, had recently accused Anwar of sexual misconduct.

He alleged in a statutory declaration that Anwar tried to force him to perform oral sex at the latter’s home in Bukit Segambut on October 2 last year.

The statutory declaration had been widely shared on the internet.

Yusoff had also lodged a police report on the incident last Saturday, and has been called up for questioning twice early this week by Bukit Aman.

The case is being probed under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using criminal force with intent to outrage the modesty of a person.

Anwar, who is also Port Dickson MP, was also called up by the cops to have his statement recorded last Wednesday.

Anwar has dismissed the allegation, saying that he was at an event to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi on the day of the alleged incident.

He said he was also busy campaigning in the Port Dickson by-election.

Yusoff is the grandson of the late S.M. Mohamed Idris, a consumer rights activist who had been a close friend of Anwar’s. – December 15, 2019.

  • Just a simple solution to Anwar , Azmin and all PKR male leadership, - just employ or surround themselves with beautiful chicks or oldies. Are they that unteachable? There is a country to run. Focus.
