YOUTH and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, who is recuperating from surgery, today received a visit from Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s wife, Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.

Sharing the moment on his Instagram account, Syed Saddiq also thanked Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) staff for taking good care of him.

“To my friends and colleagues, I am sorry for not being able to reply all your messages. Praise be to God, the operation went well. Thank you for the well wishes,” he wrote.

“Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at UMMC. The staff here make me proud to call myself a Malaysian,” the 27-year-old minister said in his post.

According to Bernama, Syed Saddiq underwent surgery to treat appendicitis on Wednesday and is reported to be in stable condition.

According to a statement issued by his ministry, the operation was successful.

“Thank God, the operation was successful and he is now in stable condition. We urge that he be given space to rest during the recovery period. And, no visitors are allowed for the time being,” the statement read. – December 14, 2019.
