PAKATAN Harapan has scored an “average” 0.53 on the Government Satisfaction Index (GSI), which gauges voters’ feelings about the cabinet’s performance.

Emir Research founder Dr Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff said the think-tank plans to release the index results on a quarterly basis.

“We hope to build a time-series analysis to track trends and satisfaction towards government policies,” he said at the group’s office in Kuala Lumpur today.

The GSI scores are tabulated from the findings of Emir Research’s inaugural poll, titled “The Pulse from the Ground: Voice & Expectations of the Rakyat on Current Society-economic Issues”.

Based on the findings, researchers use exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory analysis and the Rasch model to arrive at ratings between 0 for “minimum satisfaction” and 1 for “maximum satisfaction”.

In the 14-question survey, respondents were asked to rate the performance of the prime minister, deputy prime minister and other cabinet members.

The poll, involving 1,992 voters, was conducted in 222 parliamentary constituencies from September 5 to October 10. Its margin of error is estimated at 3%.

Today, the think-tank released the second part of the survey findings, after the first revealed last month that only 24% of Malaysians felt that the PH government was viable.

Asked about poll data on individual ministers, research chief Professor Mohamad Sahari Nordin said Emir Research has no plans to release it.

“Our study is on the level of satisfaction towards the government, and not the performance of the individual ministers.” – December 12, 2019.
