THE “Datuk Seri” who allegedly assaulted three members of the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) at a temple in Jalan Ampang on Friday was urged to surrender himself to the police.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department head SAC Fadzil Ahmat said the police had identified the man and urged the 29-year-old suspect to surrender himself to facilitate investigation.

The case will be investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 186 of the same law for obstructing a public servant from discharging his public functions, he said in a statement today.

The incident occurred about 6.30am, resulting in the three Rela members – Melvin Cheong Mun Khai, 19; Lee Weng Poh, 27 and Leong Jiun Jie, 21 – to suffer injuries on the head, eye and abdomen.

It happened after the Rela members requested the suspect to move his Toyota Vellfire as the vehicle was obstructing traffic, but the man refused to do so. – Bernama, October 29, 2017.
