STAKEHOLDERS are not opposed to the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) Bill, and only want more time for it to be fine-tuned, said Muhyiddin Yassin.

The home minister said there is still a lot of feedback from stakeholders and police to study.

“(The bill) will be ready to be tabled and debated by March (the next parliamentary sitting). There is still room (for improvement).

“It has not been rejected outright,” he said after launching the NGO Anak Muda flood relief programme for the east coast, in Putrajaya today.

The government postponed the tabling of the IPCMC Bill last week, with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Liew Vui Keong saying it is better to work out all the details now rather than run into problems with implementation later.

Yesterday, prominent human rights lawyer Ambiga Sreenevasan questioned whether there is opposition to the bill from within Pakatan Harapan.

“I don’t buy (the government’s explanation) that more time is needed because enough work has been done on (the bill). So, enough with the excuses.

“I heard there are MPs in PH itself who are objecting to IPCMC, and this has caused the delays. I’d like to know, what is the objection? I’d like to know.”

Muhyiddin said there are facts and by-laws that need to be updated, to ensure the bill is fair to all parties.

Pressed on this, he said he cannot go into detail.

“We have received feedback from all parties. We will use this period to address it.” – December 11, 2019.

  • You are all Talk, Talk Talk.....with the help of the police -a Christian minister was disappeared, together with another Malaysia who embraced a different sect of islam. Hundreds of incarcerated prisoners were tortured, and others killed by the police, it is a known fact that in PJ at least the Police were the thieves.

What is there to discuss further???? What nonsense is this. We need to clean up corruption in Malaysia, and it must start from the thieving politicians, the police, the immigration department, the customs and we can go on and on. Malaysia is submerged in corruption. Get this going immediately-or PH will suffer more defeats in other elections. When you make promises keep them because CREDIBILITY is the most important thing to the electrode. Where is these Malaysians who have been disappeared? Where are they?
