AMANAH vice-president Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa has apologised to the party’s non-Muslim members for a lack of sensitivity towards them.
In his winding-up speech at the party’s annual congress, Mujahid said the organiser was insensitive towards the non-Muslims throughout the convention.
“I want to reprimand the organiser, why are we being insensitive towards non-Muslims. It is a simple thing such as food, we know Hindus can’t eat beef, why can’t we be more thoughtful on such matters.
“I apologise to the non-Muslims of Amanah. They are not second-class members, they are our members,” said the former PAS man.
Mujahid then slammed members who still voted along racial lines.
“I am disappointed that we still can’t move away from race. We still vote based on colour and religion.
“Our party is inclusive. That is the purpose when Amanah was formed and that was our promise to the people when we were formed.
“I hope this issue can be addressed in our next meeting.” – December 8, 2019.
