DEPUTY president Mohamed Azmin Ali agrees with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim that the party should not have factions.
Azmin said this is why he and other central leadership committee members have initiated a discussion with Anwar prior to this weekend’s congress.
“We definitely cannot allow factions to exist, this is one of the reasons I took the initiative to gather some of the appointed members of the central leadership committee, who sent Anwar a letter to initiate discussions.
“We sat together and discussed it. We hope the meeting will resolve root issues in the party,” Azmin told reporters after Anwar had delivered his speech at the congress opening in Malacca today.
On Wednesday night before the congress was to begin the following day, Anwar and Azmin met to forge a truce to factionalism that has plagued PKR this year, following its contentious elections of office bearers in party polls last year.
Today, Azmin described the root problem in PKR as one involving “justice”.
“We talk about justice, but it begins at home, it has to start from within the party before we can talk about justice outside.” – December 7, 2019.
