Top 5 posts in Amanah go to incumbents

OFFICIAL results of the Amanah elections have confirmed that Mohamad Sabu and Salahuddin Ayub have both been retained as president and deputy president.

The two have helmed the four-year-old party since its founding when they along with several other prominent figures left Islamist party PAS.

The results were made in an official announcement at the party’s convention today, following the election late yesterday.

The newly elected 27-member central committee picked Mohamad and Salahuddin last night.

The committee also retained three vice-presidents Mujahid Yusof Rawa, Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus and Mahfuz Omar.

At the party’s first-ever election yesterday, all five were among those voted into the 27-member central committee.

Mohamad is defence minister and Salahuddin holds the agriculture and agro-based industry portfolio.

Mujahid is minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of Islamic affairs.

Mahfuz is deputy human resources minister while Hasanuddin is Hulu Langat MP. – December 7, 2019.
