A SELANGOR PKR youth delegate today mocked deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali’s faction by saying it should be called “cartoon” instead of “cartel”.

“If you want it to appeal to more people, change it to cartoon,” Adzman Kamaruddin said at the PKR youth congress in Malacca today.

“The word cartel sounds bad and is incompatible with PKR’s principles. When others hear the word ‘cartel’, they associate it with drug traffickers.”

In the run-up to the party congress that began last night, Azmin has clashed with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim over several issues, including the sacking of several members close to him.

Recently, leaders linked to Azmin’s “cartel” had issued a memorandum calling on Anwar to apologise for the sacking of members Zakaria Abdul Hamid and Ismail Dulhadi.

The two Pahang PKR members were sacked by the party over bribery allegations during party polls last year.

Meanwhile, Adzman also urged Azmin to attend more PKR meetings.

“Fighting in the party will not get us anywhere. And, as such, I urge Azmin to attend all party meetings, too.

“We all know Azmin is a hero in Selangor. And, if Selangor is the Avengers, Azmin is Ironman. He can multitask and bring victory to Selangor.

“But that’s not enough as there are many wars to be won and there are many enemies outside PKR,” Adzman said.

Adzman was referring to Azmin’s poor attendance at PKR central committee and political bureau meetings.

On the eve of the congress, Anwar had to summon the economic affairs minister to Wednesday’s political bureau meeting.

It was reported that Azmin has not attended any of the earlier 20 political bureau meetings since being re-elected deputy president last year. – December 6, 2019.
